COMA_54 are a Berlin-based three-piece band, originally hailing from Cork, Ireland.

Their music is a collision of Desert Rock, Grunge and Shoegaze, forming a sonic structure that is familiar, yet totally fresh. Their blend of fuzzed-out guitar lines, a pummeling rhythm section and sugar-sweet, multi-layered vocal melodies, adds up to a massive sound, far greater than the sum of its parts.

Bio

COMA_54 are a Berlin-based three-piece band, originally hailing from Cork, Ireland.

Their music is a collision of Desert Rock, Grunge and Shoegaze, forming a sonic structure that is familiar, yet totally fresh. Influenced by a wide range of bands like Kyuss, Therapy?, My Bloody Valentine, Far From Alaska and Cleopatrick, the band revels in creating seriously heavy music that is accessible to all. Their blend of fuzzed-out guitar lines, a pummeling rhythm section and sugar-sweet, multi-layered vocal melodies, adds up to a massive sound, far greater than the sum of its parts.

COMA_54 have already made a splash on the live music scene in Germany, headlining festivals in Schwerin, Munich and Berlin. Recent performances in Berlin’s Cassiopeia club have seen them grow a reputation of being one of the best live bands on the scene. With several more dates in the book, they will look to further this reputation very soon.

During the pandemic, the band hunkered down and focussed on writing and recording in their subterranean studio, emerging with new material, which is sure to raise eyebrows and roofs in 2024.

‘Rapture’, released on April 26th on Berlin imprint Orian Musik Label, is the first product of these underground sessions. Searing guitar riffs and an unflinching rhythm section underpin deceptively catchy vocal melodies. This one is going to get in your head, and stay there.

‘A striking return’ lastdaydeaf.com

‘Flow’, which followed on May 31st, sees the band lean into their more indie influences. The bassline pushes the song forward throughout, intertwining with the lush guitar and vocal harmonies, culminating in yet another chorus hook designed to do just that; hook the listener, and draw them well and truly into the Flow. The track received some very positive press feedback, and was featured on both the Apple Music Breaking Hard Rock and Amazon Music Fresh Rock editorial playlists.

‘Flow showcases a softer and darker side to the band, whilst still maintaining their edgy grunge sound’ imro.ie

‘Maybe [Flow is] a new genre in itself… What about Grungegaze?’ indierepublik.com

‘Punkt Eins’ will be the lead track on the band’s debut EP, slated for release on October 11th. This track showcases a darker, more aggressive sound, more in line with the band’s burgeoning live performances. A snarling bass riff, repeated relentlessly throughout the song, sets the tone for the punk-inspired beats and group vocals. Perhaps an indication of the future direction of the band, this track is dark, dirty, and hopelessly catchy all at once.
